Through this synergistic approach, we continually refine our practices, staying ahead of emerging trends and ensuring our products and services meet the highest standards.

This collaborative effort fosters an environment of continuous improvement, leading to the development and dissemination of best practices and training that benefit the entire law enforcement community.

Our dedication to the law enforcement community is unwavering. We continue to set the standard for excellence and innovation in the industry.

When digital devices are seized for examination, consideration should be given to their capability to connect to the network/ internet or connect to other devices. Devices today can communicate using a variety of wireless Radio Frequency (RF) technologies. Both Apple iOS and Android OS have this capability without any modification.

Device-2-Device Bluetooth payload communication even when switched off or powered down, along with widely available bespoke Operating Systems such as GrapheneOS for Google Pixel, brings greater risks and challenges regarding device handling, examination and storage than ever seen before.

Device handling is subject to the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice 2023 (Section 108.4) Technology is advancing at an exponential rate increasing the likelihood of remote wipe and device location.

Assisting law enforcement in preserving and securing evidence is our top priority, ensuring the integrity and reliability of their investigative processes.

ISO/IEC 17025 COMPLIANCE and ACCREDITATION

The completed enclosure is tested to BS EN 50147-1 or IEEE 299-1. The shield effectiveness will be tested by a UKAS accredited test lab. A full test certification is provided upon completion.

This certification can be repeated yearly if required as part of any maintenance schedule.

Vehicle Forensics

Cars are becoming increasingly complex due to a combination of technological advancements, regulatory requirement and evolving consumer demands.

Vehicles now include advanced systems, electric motors and complex energy management systems that differ significantly from traditional internal combustion engines (ICE). Autonomous vehicles require sophisticated sensors including cameras, radar, LIDAR and powerful onboard computers.

Modern vehicles integrate with smartphones and cloud-based services, offering real time navigation, remote diagnostics, and over-the-air software updates. Remote access by an owner/user of a vehicle via App based technology is well established with more functionalities added frequently. This connectivity requires advanced software and communication protocols.

All modern vehicles use multiple radio frequencies to support the wide range of communication and electronic systems that modern vehicles rely on. Each frequency serves a specific purpose, ensuring that the vehicle can function effectively and integrate seamlessly with external networks.

Vehicles need to communicate with external systems for various purposes including cellular integration (2G, 4G and 5G), radar systems, eCall, in addition to other OEM services, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. Further to the already well established vehicle technology future plans are to integrate Vehicle to Everything (V2X) via dedicated short-range communications (DRSC) utilizing mmWave.

Conclusion

The convergence of these factors means that cars are no longer just mechanical machines, they are intricate systems containing Electronic Control Units (ECUs) combining hardware, software and cutting-edge science, all of which engage with and depend upon a wide range of electromagnetic frequencies. While this complexity leads to better performance, safety and convenience, it poses an immense and complex challenge for law enforcement where the preservation of data and sensitive location of a seized vehicle is critical.
