Transformer rooms, LV switchgear room, bus bars and substations all produce notable levels of magnetic fields. The ICNIRP guidelines limit the exposure of these fields to protect the health and wellbeing of the building’s occupants.
The prolonged exposure to these power frequency magnetic fields has been linked to an absolute raised risk of Leukaemia in children.

To perform Electroencephalogram (EEG) tests without the risk of interference and ambient background noise affecting the sensitive measurements, shielding is required. Global EMC’s EEG-SR is a shielded room designed specifically for the use in medical or educational environments to give and optimised performance at VLF/ELF frequencies. This helps protect the highly sensitive test equipment inside the room from external interference and provides a stable and repeatable testing environment.

High voltage power cables, transformers and bus-bars all generate electromagnetic fields (EMF). The greater the current in these devices the more EMF they will emit. With a higher demand for power within modern buildings, the resulting emissions are becoming larger and larger.

Global EMC design, manufacture and install “Armadillo” magnetic shielding to eliminate the exposure of harmful magnetic fields for the building's occupants. Armadillo containment can also be used when HV cables pass nearby sensitive equipment or laboratories. This stops the emitted magnetic fields disturbing the microscopes or equipment.
